Michael James Holdenried

March 29, 1950 – September 16, 2026

Michael James Holdenried fell asleep in Jesus on September 16, 2026, at the age of 76.

Mike was the beloved husband of Nancy Holdenried (née Hillemann), his wife and the love of his life for nearly 55 years. He was the devoted father of Lisa (Jim) Trautman and Ryan (Nicole) Holdenried, and the loving grandfather of Mackenzie Holdenried and Tamara Trautman. He was the dear brother of Mark (Kathy) Holdenried and was preceded in death by his siblings Raymond Jr. Holdenried, Carole Eagle, Patricia Swoboda, and Stephen Holdenried. He was a cherished uncle to his many nieces and nephews and a dear friend to so many.

Mike was born on March 29, 1950, to Raymond Sr. and Mary Leora Holdenried. He grew up in St. Louis and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1968. He later earned an associate’s degree from Forest Park Community College in 1970.

In 1971, Mike married the love of his life, Nancy. Of all the titles he held throughout his life, none meant more to him than husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his greatest joy, and there was never any doubt how deeply he loved them or how proud he was of them.

Mike was kind, generous, and always willing to lend a hand to a family member or friend in need. He was someone who showed up when it mattered and could always be counted on. His warmth, sense of humor, and unmistakable personality made him a treasured presence in the lives of those who knew him.

Mike was a hardworking business owner who took great pride in providing for his family. He gave generously of his time, talents, and energy to the people he loved.

A devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, Mike rarely missed watching a game and loved cheering on his hometown team. Fishing was another of his great passions. He found peace on the water and cherished the countless hours, memories, conversations, and friendships shared with a fishing rod in his hand.

Mike was also a dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Church, where his faith and service were an important part of his life. Over the years, he faithfully ran the church Christmas tree lot and became a much-loved part of the annual Boar’s Head Festival, where he was affectionately known as everyone’s favorite lord.

His mischievous grin, his sense of humor, his generous heart, and the love he gave so freely will never be forgotten.

Mike leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, generosity, laughter, and devotion to family. While his family and friends will miss his presence more than words can express, they find comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Ziegenhein & Sons South County Chapel, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63129.  Visitation will also be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, 9:00 a.m. until services at 10:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Road, St. Louis, MO 63125.  Interment following services at St. Trinity Cemetery.
