Michael Gerard Luczak, 57, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on April 25, 2023, after his three year battle with cancer, surrounded by his daughters. Michael was born on August 31, 1965, to Rita A. Tiggard and Stanley J. Luczak in St. Louis, MO. In his childhood, Michael was heavily influenced by The Little Rascals. He thought the world of the character Spanky and thrived to be like him in his everyday life. In his high school years, Michael’s creativity and humor blossomed as he began to make original funny one-liner cards and sold them to students who attended St. Mary’s High School located in South St. Louis. After high school, Michael attended the University of Missouri - St. Louis where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a certificate in Writing and Speech Communication. One of his greatest accomplishments during this time was having the chance to attend the premiere of “Pretty in Pink” in Los Angeles. In 1992, Michael began his career as Director of Grants and Contracts for the SLU Health Sciences Center, and a Contract Administrator at St. Louis University Hospital. During this time, he worked hard, had many accomplishments, and helped tens of thousands of people. At age 32, Michael was diagnosed with Bipolar after being manic from the time of Princess Diana’s death on August 31, 1997. Writing and humor have always been a passion for him and was something he used throughout his daily life and occupations. Micheal was predeceased by his parents Rita A. Tiggard and Stanley J. Luczak and his grandparents Katherine N. Tiggard and Harry Tiggard. He is survived by his daughters Kristina (Michael) Swallow and Erica (Dustin) Luczak, his grandchildren Lillian S. Swallow, Gabriel F. Barela, and Charlotte K. Swallow, his former wife Rose L. (Luczak) Reece, his brother Steve (Diana) Luczak and his nieces and nephews Benjamin Luczak, Brian Luczak, Melanie Luczak, and his step-mother Delores (Daiber) Luczak and stepsiblings Sharon (Danny) Daiber Dickman, Dennis (Lori) Daiber, Judy (Kevin) Daiber Brendel. Michael had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile. He loved to be in the moment, laugh, be funny and have fun. He enjoyed spending his time going thrift shopping, dancing, watching sports, attending a night of improv, going to concerts and festivals, traveling, checking out local art, and enjoying some great food at local restaurants. He loved meeting and talking to new people so that he could share stories and his fondness of his daughters and their accomplishments. Services will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ - Oakville on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be held at John. L. Ziegenhein & Sons County Parlors (Lemay Ferry) on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and additionally before services at St. Paul United Church of Christ - Oakville on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 9:00 - 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Baldricks Foundation or Angel Arms
