Michael L. Stacey, a beloved father and dedicated social worker, passed away on July 9, 2025, in Saint Louis City. Born on October 18, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Michael lived a life marked by compassion, commitment, and creativity. With over 30 years devoted to his work as a social worker, he touched the lives of countless individuals, offering support and guidance during their most challenging times.
An accomplished scholar, Michael earned a Master’s in Special Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1985, showcasing his passion for helping those with unique needs. His commitment extended beyond the professional realm; he was also a proud active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, celebrating his sobriety since April 17, 1988. This milestone was a testament to his strength and resilience, values he instilled in those around him.
Michael had a flair for music, serving as a driver for the band “Uncle Albert” and a lifelong Blues Fan. His interests reflected his vibrant spirit.
Michael leaves behind his beloved sons, Liam (Anna) Stacey and Myles (Justin Kearley) Stacey, who were his pride and joy. The bond he shared with them exemplified his role as a guiding figure, as he embraced fatherhood with warmth and devotion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ada (nee Crawford) Stacey, who laid the foundation of love and support upon which he built his life.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Michael’s life with a visitation on August 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on August 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM, both to be held at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Homes - South City Chapel, located at 7027 Gravois Ave, St. Louis, MO 63116.
Michael’s legacy is one of kindness, perseverance, and an unwavering belief in the human spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. His memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared.
