Pamela S. Rethemeyer

November 6, 1948 — May 27, 2025

Pamela Rethemeyer, a devoted sister, beloved aunt, and treasured friend, passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 6, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, Pam was the second of nine children.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur E. and Susan F. Rethemeyer, and by her sisters Margaret M. Rethemeyer and Kathryn S. Rethemeyer. She is survived by six siblings: Stephen A. Rethemeyer (Alice), James A. Rethemeyer (Nelda Goodwin), Mark E. Rethemeyer (Debbie), Daniel E. Rethemeyer (Kathy), Theresa Vosburgh (Gordon), and Cynthia Gherardini (Greg). She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and extended family members, as well as many friends, including her dearest friend of over 50 years, Marlyne Glenn. She will be dearly missed by all.

Pam built a distinguished career in accounting, spending more than 35 years as an accountant and tax practitioner. She brought her sharp analytical mind and meticulous attention to detail to every return, every audit, and every client. She retired from her role as a Sales Tax Auditor at the Missouri Department of Revenue, where she earned the respect and friendship of colleagues across the state. While she did enjoy a slower lifestyle after retirement, she remained professionally active. Pam continued to prepare income taxes well after leaving the Department, offering her expertise to individuals, partnerships, and corporations as the owner of Preferred Tax Service of Florissant. All who worked with her trusted her counsel year after year.

Beyond her professional practice, Pam was deeply involved in the broader accounting community through her long-standing affiliation with the Missouri Society of Accountants (MSA). Her leadership and dedication to the organization were widely recognized. Pam served as President of MSA at the state level and was honored with the Chapter President of the Year award during her term leading the St. Louis Chapter. Pam had also served as Vice President of the St. Louis Chapter and was the Recording Secretary at the time of her death. Pam remained an active force within the society, serving on the board at both the state and local levels and fulfilled the important role of IRS liaison. Pam also contributed her expertise as a guest speaker at numerous MSA accounting seminars and conventions and represented the organization as both an instructor and delegate at IRS tax forums. Her commitment to professional education and advancement within the field made her a trusted voice and a respected mentor among her peers.

Pam was currently living in Florissant, Missouri, with her brother, Jim, and cats Tasha and Cucumber. She loved to travel, especially her “sisters’ trips” with Theresa and Cindy. Pam was always willing to share her home when friends and family members needed a place to stay while in town or recovering from medical issues. She was a caring and gracious host who would do anything she could to make you feel at home. She was a voracious reader and loved playing cards.

Those who knew Pam remember her as a caring woman of integrity, honesty, and humor. Someone who could be counted on. She was empathetic to those in need and generous with the charities that were important to her.

Pam will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
