Paul J. Proost

May 28, 1946 — September 22, 2024

St. Louis

Paul J. Proost, 78, passed away September 22, 2024. Son of the late Jacob E. and the late Pauline M. nee Knopf, Proost, beloved husband of over 53 years to Carolyn L. Proost, nee Hopfer, dear father of Bradley (Mara) Proost, cherished grandfather of Cooper, Logan, and Beckett Proost, and dear uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend.

Paul was a 1964 graduate of Laboure High School and a 1968 graduate of Benedictine College where he attended on soccer scholarship playing in goal. He worked for many years in Risk Management at various companies including General Accident and Missouri Employee Mutual. Paul was an avid sports fan, a longtime season ticket holder of the St. Louis Blues, a die-hard St. Louis Cardinal fan, and a soccer enthusiast once his grandkids started to play. He also enjoyed working in his yard and making it a showpiece. Mr. Proost was a dedicated Catholic never missing a mass even when traveling. When home, he attended Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. Paul's greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandsons. He enjoyed being involved in their lives whether that was attending their sporting events, talking on the phone or simply hanging out at the house together. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorials are appreciated in lieu of flowers to Batten Disease Support & Research Association (BDSRA) in honor of Danielle and Holly Carbrey.
