Emblem

Richard J. Werkmeister was called to his eternal rest, peacefully asleep in Jesus, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the age of 87 years. Born to the late Albert and Marie (née Tripka) Werkmeister, Richard grew up in a close-knit family that shaped his deep sense of loyalty, generosity, and devotion to those he loved.

Richard was the cherished father of Michael (Angela) Werkmeister and Lisa (Craig Fisher) Werkmeister, and the proud, joy-filled grandpa of Todd Rick, Andrew Werkmeister, Matthew Werkmeister, Casey Werkmeister, and Sarah Fisher. Nothing delighted him more than time spent with his grandchildren — their laughter, their stories, and their milestones were among his greatest blessings.

He was the dear brother of James, Norbert, and Virginia, and was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy. Richard’s warmth and easygoing nature made him a beloved uncle, cousin, and friend to many. His presence will be deeply missed by a wide circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, and lifelong friends who were touched by his kindness.

A proud United States Army Veteran, Richard carried the values of service and integrity throughout his life. For twenty years, he poured his dedication and work ethic into his business, Gateway Mechanical, where he built not only a livelihood but a reputation for honesty and craftsmanship.

Richard found joy in the outdoors — especially hunting and fishing on the boat at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he felt most at peace. His garage was famously open to anyone who needed a tool, a hand, or a bit of advice. He loved to joke around, share a laugh, and bring a little lightness into every room he entered.

Above all, Richard loved his family. He lived for the moments spent around the table, on the lake, or simply in the company of those he held dear. His legacy is one of generosity, humor, hard work, and unwavering love.

He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to inspire and comfort all who knew him.
