Distler, Robert Fred, of Saint Louis, Missouri, was born to Roman and Theresa (nee Kupferer) Distler and was baptized into the hope of Christ’s Resurrection on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the age of 88 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene Distler.
He is survived by, his loving wife of 63 years, Joan (nee Hollander) Distler, four (4) devoted children, Gail (Dr. William III) Schatt, Lynn (John) Visintine, Jill Beishir, and Craig (Dana) Distler, ten (10) beloved grandchildren, Matthew Schatt, Andrew Beishir, Alex Schatt, Kyle Visintine, Kayla Visintine, Sara Schatt, Victoria Beishir, Jenna Visintine, Colin Distler, and Keira Distler, one (1) new great grandson, Cassian Beishir, one (1) sister-in-law, Mary Lou Distler, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Robert graduated from St. Mary’s High School. He then left his family and friends to serve his country as a member of the United States Army from 1956-1958. While serving his country he was able to explore the world and he fell in love with Germany. Robert met the love of his life and married Joan in 1959. They went on to add four children to their family. Robert served them working at Missouri Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad until he retired in 1998. He enjoyed the outdoors and camping with his family, listening to his favorite music (Johnny Cash!), playing horseshoes with his brother and lifelong buddies and being with his beloved dogs. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Services: Family and friends will be gathering Friday, November 18, 2022, from 9:00 a.m., until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4092 Blow St., St Louis (63116). Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
