Roy Frederick Baum, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2026, fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, and surrounded by his immediate family, following a brief period in hospice care.

Roy is survived by his wife, Patricia (née Hurley); his daughter, Nancy Ohlemeyer (née Baum) (Ken); his granddaughter, Grace Anna Ohlemeyer; as well as beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

During his military service, Roy served as an overseas Morse code interceptor with the Army Security Agency, stationed in Japan and Hawaii. His military experience became a meaningful chapter in his life, which translated into Roy’s association as a proud veteran, military history enthusiast, and lifelong patriotic American. Roy was active for many years with his ASA Chitose–Japan reunion group, enjoying reunion trips and serving as the editor of its newsletter.

Roy’s career years highlighted his skill in sales, communication, and sales training, including over 27 years at Maritz Motivation Company, where he retired as a vice president in 2001. Roy was a member of the National Society of Sales Training Executives.

For over 40 years, Roy and Pat enjoyed seeing the world together, with travels that took them to England, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Canada, the Caribbean, Alaska, and throughout the United States.

As a true “family man,” Roy enjoyed time with his wife of 67 years, Patricia, and was a dedicated father. Over the decades, "Papa" was an active and proud grandpa who never missed a family outing to the zoo or gardens, or the chance to be an enthusiastic fan in the stands at high school and college athletics, recitals, plays, and milestones.

Roy was a lifelong golf enthusiast who enjoyed golfing with friends, traveling to PGA tournaments, and together with Pat, hosting annual golf tournaments for friends at the Terre du Lac course near their lakehouse community in Bonne Terre, Missouri.

His Catholic faith was integral to his life, and Roy was honored to serve for many years as a Sunday lector at his church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Disabled American Veterans, Humane Society of Missouri, or a charity of the donor's choice in Roy's honor.
