Roy D. Poole

February 3, 1945 — October 25, 2025

Roy D. Poole, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born to the late Iley and Bessie Poole (née Harroald), Roy lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to others. He shared a beautiful bond with Jeanill Curry, the love of his life, whose companionship brought him immeasurable joy.

Roy was a proud father to Du-Wayne Poole and Kimberly Denean Poole, and a devoted grandfather to Zach Ebert and Mattisen Denean Poole. He was preceded in death by many of his siblings, and is survived by Sarah, Sharron, and Douglas. He was a beloved uncle to Regina, Heath, and many more nieces and nephews; and also, Jeff and Mark, with whom he shared a special bond.

Roy was a man of many talents and passions. He was a dedicated softball coach, a skilled craftsman who loved construction, iron work, and building houses. His hands built more than structures—they built memories, homes, and hope. Roy had a deep love for his family and an unwavering desire to help others. His compassion extended to animals as well; he saved countless dogs throughout his life, offering them the same love and care he gave to everyone around him.

At the age of 40, Roy discovered a passion for music and taught himself to play the guitar. He found great joy in writing songs and sharing his music with those around him. His melodies often reflected the warmth, humor, and wisdom that defined his character, and his love for music remained a constant source of happiness throughout his life.

Roy was also a proud friend of Bill W. for 48 years, a testament to his strength, resilience, and commitment to personal growth and helping others on their journey.

Roy’s legacy is one of kindness, hard work, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Memorials are appreciated to Animal Welfare Alliance of Southeast Missouri and the American Cancer Society (link below).
