Ruth Lillian Rich (Fecht) daughter of Richard H. and Florence M. Fecht, was born September 27, 1927, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at the Lutheran Church where she attended grade school and was confirmed in her faith. She attended McKinley High School.
On September 9, 1950, she was united in marriage to Francis J. Rich, whom she met while taking voice lessons and vocal training for the renown vocalist, Mildred Haas. They celebrated 66 years of marriage on September 9, 2016. Francis departed this life on November 14, 2016. To this union were born five children, Martha (Larry) Felton, Stephen Rich, Katherine McMeans, Cecelia (William) Engert, and David (Jennifer) Rich. She is also survived by grandchildren, Brian (Angela) Felton, Daniel Felton, Angela (Joshua) Hamer, Gregory Felton, Elizabeth (Jakob) Harmon, Ralph (Katie) McMeans, Joshua (Christina) Engert, Jacob (Heather) Engert, Julia Engert (Ross Sebastian), JoHanna (Semir) Krivic, Dillon, Carter and Austin Rich, along with great-grandchildren Timothy and Liam Felton, Evan and Brendan Hamer, Riley Jean and baby Harmon, Isabella, Ralph “RJ” and Amelia McMeans, Jack and Jameson Engert, Caleb, Peyton and Brody Engert, Aiden Engert, Adelyn and Kian and Alina Krivic. She is further survived by sisters-in-law Dorothy Coleman and Jeannette Reising, along with nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her infant granddaughter Amanda McMeans.
Ruth was a sweet, loving, gentle, quiet God-fearing woman and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, sewing, gardening, and canning.
She was admitted to Delmar Gardens South in 2019, as her health began to fail, and entered hospice care in March of 2021. She sustained several strokes and seizures on December 15th, and peacefully departed on December 23, 2021. She was 94 years and 2 months old.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm @ John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 @ 9:30 am @ John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Chapel. Interment following services at Our Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Christ Memorial Lutheran Church Music Program.
