Sandra Lee Stark

Sandra Lee Stark, nee Horst, entered into rest on Monday January 26, 2026, at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late Hugh Stark; devoted mother of Doug (Jill) Stark and Steve (Judy) Stark; treasured grandmother of Jessie and Connor; dear sister of the late Allen Horst; cherished sister-in-law of Janet and David Bonham; and precious daughter of the late Robert and Adelaide Mosley. Sandra is also survived by many other dear relatives and friends.

Before her role as beloved matriarch, Sandra made a career as a secretary which led her to a profound connection with Hugh Stark, whom she married and with whom she built a wonderful family filled with love and laughter. Together, they created countless memories, including the joyful times spent attending hockey games, where Sandra’s spirited nature truly shone. Her passion for the St. Louis Blues was a testament to her fervent love for the game; she could often be found cheering passionately from her seat, either in the arena or at home, showcasing her feisty side that endeared her to many.

An alumna of Affton High School, Sandra remained a lifelong learner, nurturing her interests which included avid collecting of stamps and coins. Her creative spirit was reflected not only in her hobbies but also in the countless letters and cards exchanged with her granddaughter, which highlighted the deep bond and artistry they shared. Each correspondence was a reflection of Sandra’s loving and playful personality, filled with stories and her delightful sense of humor that remained vibrant until her final days. Sandra’s affinity for animals demonstrated another layer of her loving nature. She delighted in the companionship of the pets she cared for before embarking on her family journey, further underscoring her nurturing spirit.

Sandra brought warmth, kindness, and creativity into the lives of all who knew her. Her sweetness and thoughtfulness made her a cherished companion, and her selflessness was unmatched. May she rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Humane Society of Missouri in Sandra’s honor.

A visitation for Sandra’s friends and family to gather and share memories will be held on Saturday February 7, 2026, at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Chapel, 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO 63129, from 12:00 p.m. until her 1:30 p.m. funeral service. Immediately following, graveside service and interment in St. Paul Churchyard, alongside her husband, the late Hugh.
