Sharon Jones

Sharon “Kay” Jones, nee Downing, entered into rest on 9th day, of September 2022 at the age of 73. Daughter of the late Hassell E. and the late Ruby, nee Gillis, Downing, wife of the late Elvis E. Jones, beloved mother of Timothy Jones, dear sister to Wanda French, the late Barbara McLin, Earnest Downing, and the late Larry Downing. She is also survived by a host of dear family members and friends.

Kay was wonderful to be with. Her greatest joy was her family, and the light of her life was her son Tim. Kay was always willing to travel for an adventure and making memories. Her days were filled with laughter for over 10 years alongside her best friend, her sister, Wanda. She loved to shop, visit casinos, travel, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Kay was a wonderful Mom, an amazing sister, and a beloved, aunt, great aunt, great great aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, and friend. Kay was loved by many, and their hearts were not ready to say goodbye.

Memorials are appreciated to Shriners Hospitals for Children , or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital .

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Home, South City Chapel, 7027 Gravois Ave. St. Louis, MO 63116. Funeral service will be held at 1pm Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the funeral home. Interment will be in New St. Marcus Cemetery.
