Sofia Ruthann Fergunson

Sofia Ruthann Fergunson, age 5 of Arnold, MO, passed away in her mommy and daddy's arms, and surrounded by her loving family on Saturday May 10, 2025. Precious daughter of Jaren and Cassandra, nee Vance, Fergunson; beloved baby sister of Merrilynn Fergunson; cherished granddaughter of Brenda and Jim Vance, and Tracy and Doug Brickeen; treasured niece of Manda (Sam) Vance, Shevelle Pendegraft, and Doug Jr. "DJ" Brickeen; and dear cousin of Casandra. Sofia is also survived and remembered by many other dear relatives, teachers, and friends.

Sofia was born October 24, 2019, in St. Louis, MO, joining her loving family, parents Jaren Fergunson and Cassandra Vance and older sister, whom was always by her side, Merrilynn. Sofia, young but mighty, is remembered for her strong fighting spirit as well as her sweet, sassy, and kind soul. Despite the challenges that Sofia faced with Dandy-Walker Syndrome, intractable epilepsy, and hydrocephalus that required a ventriculoperitoneal shunt, Sofia's warrior attitude could help brighten the day of anyone who had the blessing of meeting her with her bright kind smile. Sofia is also remembered for her unique style, always keeping a new and distinctive hairstyle with the help of her momma's creative care.

Sofia was very intelligent and wise, a graduate of Don Earl Early Childhood center in Arnold, MO. Outside of school and medical visits, Sofia loved to play with her sister, Merrilynn, especially outside. The young girls made many cherished memories playing on the swings and, when the weather permitted, swimming and camping.

Sofia impacted so many lives in such a short time. May she continue to inspire many more lives for years to come. May Sofia rest in peace.

A visitation to remember and celebrate Sofia's life will be held on Friday May 16, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at John L. Ziegenehin & Sons South County Parlors. Her funeral will take place the following morning, May 17, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
