Sue McClanahan

November 25, 1938 — July 8, 2025

Arnold, Missouri

Oksun L. “Sue” McClanahan entered into rest on Tuesday July 8, 2025, at the age of 86. Beloved wife to first husband, the late William Cullen, and second husband, the late Roy McClanahan; devoted mother and stepmother of Michael Cullen, David (Amy) Cullen, the late Susan (Mike) Ahern, and Mark McClanahan; and treasured grandmother to Tim, Madelyn, Mikayla “Kay,” Heather, Roszhina, Alex, Tyler, Nikki, Megan, and the late Erica. Sue is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends.

Sue was known for her strong and independent spirit, characteristics that defined her throughout her life. She brought warmth and kindness to everyone around her, always prioritizing the needs and happiness of her family and friends. She enjoyed the quieter moments in life, especially in her later years, creating a world filled with love and simple joys. While Sue never worked outside of the home, her career as a devoted mother and later a cherished grandmother was deeply fulfilling. She poured her heart into nurturing her family and was always their strongest supporter. One of her proudest accomplishments was moving to the United States in 1965. This moment marked the beginning of a beautiful journey that saw her family grow and thrive, and she embraced her role as a mother with unwavering love and dedication.

Her creative talents shone through her hobbies: she loved to knit and cook, where she excelled in both. Family gatherings were often graced by the delicious meals and gooey butter cakes she prepared, and she took great joy in sharing her crafts with loved ones. Additionally, Sue found delight in visiting casinos, where she enjoyed trying her luck and relishing the thrill of the game. Sue McClanahan leaves behind a family touched by her love and wisdom. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit continues to inspire strength, independence, and the importance of family. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, whose bonds with her family were as vibrant and enduring as the stitches she lovingly crafted in her knitting.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Disabled American Veterans.
