Obituary

Thelma D. Gadberry, nee Bahan, our beloved matriarch, born July 27, 1931, in St. Louis, Missouri, was called home to the Lord on Sunday April 26, 2026, and fortified by the Rites of the Holy Catholic Church. She was 94 years, 8 months, and 30 days old, every moment cherished and celebrated with the Lord.

Preceded in death and reunited in Heaven with her husband Benjamin F. Gadberry; daughter Cynthia; parents John J. and Aurelia, nee du Chouquette, Bahan; siblings Rose, Jack, Syl, Eileen, Al, Margie, Harold, Urban, and Joe.

Thelma is survived by precious daughters Theresa and Deborah; cherished grandchildren Matthew, Kelsey, Timothy, and Kevin; blessed great-grandchildren Alex, Brett, Makynzie, Jacob, Ella, Savannah, Alvia, Hannah, Easton, Colt, Levi, Benny – nicknamed by Thelma, “Benji”- and Finley; aunt of several nieces and nephews; and friend to many countless others.

Thelma was a remarkable woman whose heart was as vast as her love for her family. Known for her warmth and generosity, she was the steady anchor who held her loved ones close through all of life’s trials and joys. Her strong faith served as a guiding light, helping her navigate even the most difficult moments with grace and resilience.

Devoted and attentive, Thelma treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren—whether playing joyfully in the backyard or sharing peaceful afternoons at the park. Despite the profound sorrow she endured, including the heartbreaking loss of a child, she remained a pillar of strength and comfort, enveloping her family in unwavering love.

Elegance and pride in her appearance were just small reflections of the dignity she carried within. Beyond her personal qualities, Thelma’s kindness and generosity left a lasting imprint on all who knew her. Her life was a beautiful testament to love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family, touching countless hearts along the way. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. May she rest in peace.
