Vickie Darlene Callahan

June 20, 1952 – August 1,2025

Vickie passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. Up until the end Vickie maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her long life, full of wonderful and varied experiences.

She was born in Mt. Vernon, IL. in 1952 to Laura (Beyer) Tate Gleason Tate. Vickie grew up in South St. Louis and attended Shepherd Grade School & Roosevelt High School. Vickie worked for the St. Louis Public Schools Human Resource Department for over 35 years.

Vickie would take more pride in being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother than any of her other many accomplishments. Vickie married the late Dan Callahan Sr. in June 1974 and remained married to Dan until his death in April of 2015. Vickie & Dan had 3 children. Scott, the late Daniel Callahan Jr. (Dec. 2025) & Carrie Jones (Wes Jones) were her pride and joy. She always said their births added more meaning to her life than she could ever explain , and they felt that in the love and support she provided. Vickie was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Ireland Callahan, Reese A. Callahan, McKenzie Callahan, Reese B. Callahan & Avery Callahan. Vickie & Dan took special joy in spending time with their grandchildren and her death leaves a void that they cannot replace.
