Mary Jane Snodgrass

Mary Jane Snodgrass

April 28, 1955 - August 16, 2015
Saint Louis, Missouri

Snodgrass, Mary Jane (nee Hock) passed peacefully on Sunday, August 16th at age 60.

Beloved wife of John Brian Snodgrass for 39 years and business partner for 25 years.

Dear mother and mother-in-law of David (Songzi) Snodgrass, Daniel (Maribeth) Snodgrass, and Jeffrey (Melissa) Snodgrass.

Proud 'Nai Nai' of Dylan, Sofia, Dorothy 'Dori', Samantha 'Sammi', Patrick, Maria and Celine.

Daughter of Robert and the late Dorothy Hock (nee Linsenmann).

Sister and close friend of Judy Peckham, John Hock (and the late Sarah), Nancy (Mike) O'Keefe, Debbie (John) Gray, Peggy (Matt) Manuel, Joanne (Phil) Giljum, and the late Don Hock.

Sister-in-law of Gary (Mary) Snodgrass, Steve (Kathryn) Snodgrass.

Dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to many others.

Mary told it like it was, but always with a perfect dose of her sarcasm and wit. She didn't search out the spotlight, but others were drawn to her. Her sense of humor kept you on your toes, and sustained our family through it all. She was unlike any other...unique gem. She was a fighter. She was a true friend. She LOVED her family and was LOVED back wholeheartedly.

Her endless list of hobbies included cooking, travel, puzzles, games, and all creative arts: music, theater, illustrating, writing, and painting. Mary's sewing blossomed into an entrepreneurial career when she established Designs in Thread (Later Image Design Group) in 1989. Mary's creative mind powered the business that she and John managed together for nearly 20 years as it grew from a small retail monogram shop (next to Ted Drewes) into a commercial embroidery and screen-printing factory.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cancer Support Community at 1058 Old Des Peres Road, St. Louis, MO 63131 where Mary spent hours each week in yoga, art, fitness, cooking, writing, and other classes. Click Here to Donate

We offer a thank you to all friends and family who supported us during Mary's journey, and, especially, Sr. Leonette Juengst for her longtime friendship and spiritual guidance.

John, David, Daniel, Jeffery we wanted to pass along our condolences, thoughts, and prayers. Thank you for sharing Mary with us, and creating so many great memories (and Destin vacations). With Love Bryan

Nice lady who loves her family as same as her family love her.

To the Snodgrass and Hock families- Dale & I wanted to offer our sympathy for the loss of your beloved Mary. She was a true gem and we have so many wonderful memories from the time we spent in Mary Kay together. She definitely kept us on our toes, called them as she saw them & always had the most beautiful and infectious smile. I will always remember the fun we had, the experiences we shared & the trips we took to Seminar. I will treasure that friendship and the Mary Kay bond we had. Our prayers and thoughts go out to all of you. Love, Sandy & Dale

Mary was on the woman's retreat team for several years. She took her ministry seriously - always dependable and supportive. Taking ukulele classes with her was quite an experience. Thanks to the family for allowing me into their home during Mary's final journey.
-Sister Leonette Juengst, SSND

Dearest John, It seems so very long ago and thousands of miles away, but MJ was one of the dearest friends I ever had throughout our high school years together. I will carry loving memories of the joy she was to all of us, forever in my heart. My deepest sympathies to you, David, Daniel and Jeffrey. Mary was a real gem indeed...Love, Chris Hannibal, Easthampton, MA

My fondest memories were those of spending weekends and nights together listening to her sharp wit and sense of humor. Also of the nights we spent together sleeping in my mom and dad's bed telling ghost and scary stories under the sheet. With a flashlight up against the sheet casting an eerie glow on the both of us, as we literally scared each other to the point where neither one of us got a wink of sleep that night. Mary had a heart of pure gold and had such a strong personality and faced everything head on. Except of course our spooks and ghosts. Mary I'll always think of you with a heart full of love and a tear in my eye because I miss you, and because I'm jealous that you got to meet our Jesus first face to face first. I'll miss you until we meet again. My condolences to all who were closer to her than I. Love Patty!
