Emblem

Betty Lou Brandt Westbrock

April 20, 1927 – April 3, 2023

Age 95, born in St. Louis, MO, and a long-time resident of south St. Louis.

Beloved wife of the late Harold Gene Westbrock; loving mother of Janet E. Foss (Marshell J. Foss) and Daniel C. Westbrock (Teresa Martin); Cherished grandmother of Lindsay N. Westbrock; Former companion to the late Robert D. Atwell; Our dear aunt, cousin, and a friend to many.

Betty started dancing at the age of 6 and for many years dancing was her life ballet, tap and toe dancing. She attended Oak Hill Elementary School in 1941 and Cleveland High School in 1945.  As a teenager, she was a member of Bethel #12, International Order of Job’s Daughters.

On May 7th, 1949, she married Harold Gene Westbrock and was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She served as PTA President and assisted with her son’s boy scout troop. She enjoyed family campouts and trout fishing.

Betty was a 70-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES).  She served as Worthy Matron four times- 1966,1982,1987,1999.   Most recently, she was a member of the Meridian Chapter #442.  For many years she was active in numerous OES-affiliated clubs and groups.  In 1977, she served as DeMolay Mother for Carondelet DeMolay.  Betty was a supporter of Moolah Shriners as a Lady of the Drum Corps and Temple Club Member; a member of Affton Christian Church.

Betty worked in the secretarial field for many years.  In the late 1970’s Betty became an Avon representative.

An avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, she hardly missed a televised game. Volunteering at the Saint Louis Altenheim gave her a great deal of pleasure as she planned and performed in the annual singing and dancing entertainment show for the residents at the Altenheim. Watching “The Price is Right” and “The Young & the Restless” were happy pastimes and she enjoyed monthly visits to the casino with friends and family where lunch was always part of the day.

Betty was a member of Affton Christian Church.

She had a wonderful sense of humor, she often surprised everyone with a witty comment.   Betty will be dearly missed.
