Chester Bunnell

April 3, 1946 — September 7, 2020

Chester S. Bunnell  “Chet” passed away on September 7, 2020 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.  Chet was born April 3, 1946 in Auburn, New York to Sidney and Doris Bunnell.   He grew up in Auburn and then attended college at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, completing a B.A. in English in 1972.  He returned to New York to attend the State University of New York -- Albany, completing a Masters in Library Science in 1973.

Chet helped countless college students achieve their goals through his work as a reference librarian at the State University of New York -- Plattsburgh, the University of Mississippi, and Saint Louis University.   He served as Chair of the Reader Services Special Interest Section of the American Association of Law libraries and as a member of the St. Louis University Faculty Senate.  He participated in a variety of library and academic organizations and was active in the MS Society and a long-time member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

Chet was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Eunice Miller Bunnell.  He is survived by his brother Cecil Bunnell, sons Jeffrey Bunnell and Michael Bunnell, and several grandchildren.   Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.  Those wishing to honor Chet are encouraged to contribute to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
