Donald Bock

March 12, 1938 — November 12, 2019

Donald Lee Bock, 81, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Mercy South Hospital following a battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife of 38 years, Leona (Cramer) Bock; his sisters Mary (Bock) Villella, and Beverly (Bock) Camden; his son George Bock; his daughter Janis (Bock) Salamone; his daughter Pamela (Bock) Nowak; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many close friends.

He was born, raised, and lived most of his life in St. Louis. Donald is the son of George and Irene (Martin) Bock.

As a young man Donald served in the Marine Corps along with his sister Mary. After his honorable discharge he continued to stay involved in the military community through the Marine Corp League Detachment 183. He was also heavily involved in his church, St. Trinity Lutheran Church. His volunteer work included collecting food donations for the church’s food pantry as well as collecting donations for toys for tots through the Marine Corp League. Many of Donald’s closest friends were made through his volunteer work.

His role as father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather was very dear to him. Even in his later years, he remained very active in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. He will forever remain in their memories the man who was sure to not only attend, but help the coaches at every sporting event; the man who played cars and trains on the floor with his great- grandchildren; and the man who never stopped cracking jokes and making people smile.

Visitation will be held at Ziegenhein funeral home on Sunday, November 17th from 3-7 pm.  Pass and Review will take place at 5 pm.  An additional viewing will be held at St Trinity Lutheran Church at 9 am on Monday, November 18th and will conclude with the funeral service at 10 am.  Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks.
