Hailee Gnatek

February 26, 2003 — January 29, 2020

Hailee Marie Gnatek, a vision of light and beauty, passed away on January 29, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the adored niece of Jill and Charles Gail, her guardians.  Hailee was artistic, creative and caring.  She made contributions to society through her volunteerism at many charitable organizations including the Girl Scouts of America and National Honor Society and helped collect money for an organ donation for a friend’s young son.
The beloved daughter of Jan Foerster (deceased) and Joseph Gnatek and the granddaughter of the Linton and June Kneemiller (deceased), and William and Karen Gnatek.  She was the precious sister of Dana (Jason) Alexander and Scott (Holly) Latham. She was the niece to David (Evelyn) Gnatek, Cathy (Michael) Gnatek and Judy Kneemiller (deceased).  She was a wonderful aunt to Gabrielle Alexander.
Proud cousin of Kristen Wyatt, Steven Wyatt, Michael Kneemiller, Kaylynne Luck, Kandice Luck, Josh Luck, Julia Florey, Roger Bek Florey, Stephanie Gnatek, Lauren Gnatek, Ray Morgan, Nikki Philbrick, and Shane Gnatek (deceased).
Born in St. Louis on February 26, 2003, Hailee attended both Valley Park and Mehlville High Schools where she was elected to National Honor Society and was president of Phi Beta Epsilon, library club.  An honor student, she was also a member of the mixed choir, chess club and a cast member of her school’s musical for the past three years.
In the summers, she enrolled in camps to strengthen her artistic and culinary loves and talents at Laumeier Sculpture Park, Craft Alliance and Gourmand Cooking School. It was there that she became a Junior Gourmand and perfected her cooking and baking skills, surprising her guardians Jill and Charles Gail with homemade muffins, cookies, cupcakes and artisan breads. The Gails remember that, “She could filet a fish and break down a chicken with ease. She also had an advanced palate for her age but, like most young people, also enjoyed sweets.”  The Gails adoringly remember Hailee as loving, intelligent, artistic, and bubbly.  “We are celebrating so many lives she touched in her short life here,” said Jill Gail.”.
In keeping with Hailee's desire to keep giving back and making a difference, Hailee signed the back of her driver’s permit so that if something should happen to her, she would donate her organs and tissues to add quality of life to other people.  Donations in Memory of Hailee Gnatek would be appreciated to Mid-America Transplant, 1110 Highlands Plaza Drive, Suite 100, St. Louis, MO 63110.
Visitation will commence at John L.
