LETTY RAE MCCLAIN

Letty Rae McClain passed away on October 15, 2019, at the age of 88. Letty raised three wonderful sons with her late husband of 42 years, Edward (Jerry) McClain. She worked for the May Company restaurants for many years. But her favorite “job” was being the lead docent at the St. Louis City Library. She also loved her volunteer jobs at Forest Park and the St. Louis Symphony.

Letty was fun-loving, witty, and very kind to all she met. She loved to read classical novels. She loved the symphony, opera, art museum, and botanical gardens. She described herself as “a simple person…I honored every commitment that I ever made…I have no regrets.”

Letty is survived by her children, Mike (& Kelly) of Dardenne Prairie, MO, Tim (& Mary) of High Ridge, MO, and Larry (& Terri) of St. Charles, MO. Her grandchildren are Jill (McClain) Grojean, Megan McClain, Kristin Kern, and Michael McClain (Mike’s children); Dan McClain, Sean McClain, Luke McClain, and Mason McClain (Tim’s children); and Jack McClain and Paul McClain (Larry’s children). She also has several great grandchildren.

Services were held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Zeigenhein & Sons on Gravois Road with interment at Jefferson Barracks. This date would have been Letty and Jerry’s 67th wedding anniversary.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association will be appreciated. (act.alz.org/donate)
