Ray Barry Hammond

February 1, 1946 — December 30, 2019

Ray Barry Hammond died peacefully Monday December 30, 2019 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years Kim (nee Linderman) Hammond, his sons R. Byron Hammond and R. Brett Hammond, daughter-in law Alexandria Hammond, sister-in-law Barbara Mecker and several nieces and nephews and extended family.  He is predeceased by a brother, R. Brian Hammond and a nephew R. Brad Hammond.

Born in Syracuse, New York, Barry was the son of R. Brodie and Rosamund Hammond/  After graduating from Fayetteville-Manlius High School, he worked as a phlebotomist and lab technician.  He met his wife Kim and they moved to Denver, Colorado where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Hospital Administration and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado in Denver.  After moving to St. Louis, Barry worked in Information Technology at Monsanto for 26 years.  In recent years he did private consulting work.

A passionate communicator, Barry participated in and held leadership roles with Toastmasters for over 15 years.  He was an avid car enthusiast and was often found taking road trips in his red Mini Cooper with the St. Louis Mini Club.  He loved dogs, particularly Boxers and raised Tucker and Rocky.

Visitation will be held Friday January 17, 2020 from 5-8pm in the Heritage Room at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5508 Telegraph Road, St. Louis, Missouri 63129.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday January 18, 2020 at 11am at St. Paul's United Church of Christ.  The burial is private.
