Robert Hooss

Robert (Bob) Charles Hooss, Asleep in Jesus January 28, 2020.
Beloved Husband of the late Laverne (nee Hunze) Hooss and the late Ruth Doerr (nee Kassing) Hooss.
Loving Father of Carla (Bill) Ax, John (Jeanne) Hooss, Susan (Terry) Benassi and Sharon (Bruce) Carlson.
Dear Grandfather of Pamela (Tony) Fassler, Anna-Marie (Tim) McKernan, Lauren (Robert) Darlington and Karl Hooss.
Great-Grandfather of Sophia, Jameson and James.
Robert was Baptized into the faith and then Confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Emmaus Lutheran Church. He was a long-time member of Hope Lutheran Church and now a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Bob was a proud veteran of WWII serving in New Guinea and the Philippines.
He distinguished himself as a charter member of the local chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). In addition, he enjoyed leading and participating in the activities as an original member of the Silver Circle Club.
He was a member of IBEW Local 4 for 66 years and employed at KTVI Channel 2 for 36 years and has been retired for many years.
After the tornado of February 1959 that destroyed the Channel 2 tower, he was among a group of men at Channel 2 who made a makeshift antenna and transmitter that enabled KTVI to go back on the air with a low-power signal within twenty-four hours of the disaster. These men were proud of their achievement.
Bob has a deep faith in the resurrection and has passed that on in his conviction throughout his years of service to the Lutheran Church.
Visitation for Bob will be Friday, January 31, from 4-8 pm at John L. Ziegenhein, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road. Then 9-10 am at Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Road with services to follow at 10 am. Interment  Saint Trinity Cemetery.
