Steven Butler

We come together to celebrate the life of Steven Gregg Butler, which ended here on earth February 21, 2020, at 58 years old. Steve was a humble leader who loved his family and friends.  He found enjoyment in the outdoors including fishing, camping, skiing, landscaping, hiking, and relaxing with those around him.  His two boys, Brian and Craig, grew up seeing him set a Godly example and teaching them the ways of life, from Boy Scouts, to being God-loving and caring adults, a husband, and a father.  Steve’s role as a father and as a new grandpa to Caleb Steven Butler gave him great joy and he was able to show so much love to Caleb during the first year of his life.  His wife, Karen, was able to celebrate life with him through parenting, traveling, spending time with friends, and enjoying big life events like the addition of their daughter, Rachel, and Grandson, Caleb.  Steve is also survived by his father, John Butler (Teresa); Mother, Myra Butler; and sister, Trisha Butler.  He was a caring nephew, brother-in-law, uncle, and cousin to many and always enjoyed spending time with family.

Steve always made an extra effort to make sure those around him felt included and welcomed.  Though the last few years of his life were filled with sickness and struggle to battle cancer, his servant heart still put others needs in front of his own.  He lived his life to the fullest, and fought hard to still enjoy life with those he loved.  His love for God was apparent in his daily life and while we mourn his death, we rejoice in the truth that he is in heaven now, with no more pain, no more tears, and no more fear.

A service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 4355 Butler Hill Road, Saint Louis, MO 63128 on March 7th at 11:00 am, with visitation from 10:00-11:00 am at the same location.  In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to one of the following:
