July 4, 2002 - November 26, 2018
It is with great sadness and heavy heart we let you know that on November 26, 2018 Shelby Sosko took his own life at the young age of 16 yrs old. His mom, Norma, brothers, Slade and Chris, his grandparents, Bill and Dianne, extended family and his amazing friends are still in shock and disbelief this happened. Shelby had an incredible sense of humor, fierce loyalty to his friends and an infectious smile. His natural magnetism drew many friends with his enthusiastic and outgoing personality. Shelby loved spending time with his friends, being outdoors fishing and hunting, and loved animals. Shelby's loss and our grief are infinite as we still cling to his warmth, love and smile. Sometimes life does not make sense, this is one of those times. We will never understand what pain, or struggle, Shelby was experiencing internally as he lived his life to the fullest with an adventurous personality.
The family would like to specially thank nurse Ali at Mercy Hospital, Sarah Suntrup, Michelle Sarich, Gale France, the Bruce-Stelmach family, Judee Herminghaus, the Rockwood Summit staff, students and family, Shelby's other "family" for their tremendous outreach and support.

I miss shelby more than anybody will ever know. He always found a way to make me happy no matter what. He always would reach out and always ask me about my days at school, and was there to talk to me about anything. I truly loved Shelby and will cherish every moment I had with him. -Samantha DreherNorma, I can’t express how sorry I am for you. Be strong my friend, I’m here for you if you need anything. You are in my thoughts and prayers.-Tracy fiebigI'll remember my time with him in gym the most, where he would always push me and motivate me to work hard in there and never give up, even when my limits were being reached. He's a big reason as to why I've gotten stronger, and I'll miss my hype man. It was fun talking to you and I wish we could have hung out more. Sorry to see you go. I wish there was something I could have done to prevent this from happening. Rest easy, friend.-Zareef HuqI was in Latin with Shelby and we instantly bonded over our unpleasantness in the class. Our teacher was crazy and we would always joke around. Waiting for class to end each day. I pray that you are at peace and that you watch over your family and friends until they can meet with you again❤️-Alexis HarrellI too, will miss Shelby more than anybody will ever understand. I am more than proud to say Shelby frequented our house as one of my son's best friends. I truly felt blessed by his presence and certainly felt at peace knowing my teen was hanging out with Shelby. While infrequent, as teen conversations go, I knew when he shared thoughts with us, I was listening to the voice of reason and greatness. I thank God, our paths crossed in this life. Let’s hold onto the memories of his smile, laugh, and energy. While short, the time was extraordinary. -Angie PenberthyNorma, thank you for allowing me to know Shelby. I will always remember that handsome smile and his amazing heart. My heart goes out to you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I love you. -Monica Shelby was a very kind, caring person who will not be forgotten.
